The Idaho State Association for Computing Machinery chapter runs events for the CS department like hackathons, LeetCode sessions, and cybersecurity conferences. We host hands-on events that teach computer skills that are highly desirable in nearly any organization and in almost any role. From a business student perspective, understanding cybersecurity and computing machinery gives you a major edge - helping you better evaluate risk, protect sensitive financial and customer data, and communicate effectively with technical teams.
Cybersecurity competitions are one event that we put on regularly, and they simulate real-world scenarios businesses face every day. These competitions can feature objectives as easy as copying and pasting an email to challenges that require a deeper understanding of cryptography, data protection, and open-source intelligence. While this may seem daunting, you’ll find plenty of entry points and support from our friendly, knowledgeable club members. Whether you enjoy the hit HBO series Mr. Robot, are an Arch Linux user (btw), or just want to develop Python skills to automate tasks in Microsoft Excel, we have something for you. For students in finance, marketing, management, or analytics, these skills translate directly into smarter decision-making, operational efficiency, and stronger leadership in a tech-driven business world.
If you are an incoming CS, Software Engineering, or IT professional, this club is a must for staying in the know about campus events and staying connected to your cohort. If you are in business, engineering, science, or mathematics, we can help you build practical computer skills for a computer-driven world.
