Tips for Distance-Based Engagement

  • The chat function in Zoom is a great way for students to engage with faculty and classmates during class.

  • Allowing a few minutes of social time at the beginning of classes or meetings to help reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness.

    • A variety of prompts could be used to encourage conversation, such as "I used to think, but now I think," or students volunteering to share selfies of their "new normal."
