Idaho State University emerita professor Susan Swetnam publishes eighth book about Christmas traditions

POCATELLO – Christmas is coming, but retired English Professor Susan Swetnam wants people to slow down and embrace Advent, the season that has preceded Christmas in Christian churches from the sixth century through today. For this reason, she recently published her eighth book, “A Season of Little Sacraments, Christmas Commotion/Advent Grace” with Liturgical Press of Collegeville, Minnesota.

Free flu shots, basic physical and dental exams, and onsite testing for blood sugar levels and cholesterol are included in free services offered at a community health screening Thursday, Dec. 8, 4-7 p.m., at the Idaho State University-Meridian Health Science Center, 1311 E. Central Drive in Meridian.

POCATELLO – Beginning Nov. 30, Idaho State University will use the Assessment and Learning in Knowledge Spaces (ALEKS) placement exam as its newest and primary assessment tool for placing students into mathematics classes.

POCATELLO — Dylan Childress, a senior majoring in art at Idaho State University, won a $1,000 prize for his winning holiday card design that will appear on the front of ISU’s official 2016 holiday greeting card.
