Hello! My name is Jonny Thienes, I’m a Marketing & Finance major at ISU. I enjoy learning and applying both the creative and analytical sides of business. I am also pursuing a Sports Media Certificate as a way to broaden my skills. My goal would be to work for a sports team or agency however I have tons of different interests and am always eager to learn and explore new things!
ISU is such a great environment, especially if you are eager to get involved. In just my first year I completed a Marketing and Social Media internship with Benny’s Pantry (great campus resource btw), worked as a Student Manager for ISU men’s basketball, took home first place in the ISU College of Business Sales Competition, and was a freshman finalist for the U.S. Bank Business Pitch Competition. Here in the Honors Program everyone is supportive and uplifting and it’s a great group of ambitious and down to earth people!
I was born and raised in Portland before moving to Idaho Falls to finish high school. As a PNW native some of my hobbies include snowboarding, surfing, and hiking. Additionally, I love going to the gym and golfing. College can be intimidating, especially being in a new environment and really learning about who you are for the first time. My biggest advice would be to get out of your comfort zone, say yes to as many opportunities as you can, and most importantly: Enjoy the journey.
