Hello! My name is Jodi Zieglmeier and I am going into my second year at ISU. I’m currently exploring careers as a physician assistant, nurse practitioner, or pediatric occupational therapist. I know those different career choices are a little all over the place, but hopefully that's comforting to any of my mentees feeling unsure of what they want to do when they grow up. Over the summer, I worked as a certified nursing assistant at a nursing home, which helped me realize how much I value medicine in my future career. I also love working with kids, and am currently tutoring reading once a week at a nearby elementary school with kindergarteners. These two interests led me to looking into pediatric OT or a primary care provider.

Outside of school you’ll most likely find me outdoors, doing crafts, playing roblox, or reading. I am a huge fan of nature and have taken a week-long road trip to different national parks each summer for the last two years. This year, I’m planning to explore Washington’s North Cascades, Olympic, and Mount Rainier National Parks. I’ve recently been into watercolor painting, making handmade cards, and gem art. In between classes I always have music playing in my airpods. You can catch me listening to The Lumineers, Noah Kahan, Phoebe Bridgers, Ole 60, or Buffalo Traffic Jam. Speaking of music, I have upcoming Ole 60 and Rainbow Kitten Surprise concerts that I’m really excited about!

If I could give advice to the version of myself just starting college, it would be to “stand where your feet are.” It’s a reminder to stay present and appreciate the moment instead of constantly worrying about what’s next. I sometimes feel behind, but remembering how hard I’ve worked to get here keeps me grounded.

I can’t wait to meet my mentees!
