Hey, my name is Daniel Enriquez, and I’m double-majoring in Health Sciences (pre-med) and Spanish for Health professions, hoping to go to medical school and become an orthopedic surgeon. I want to help small communities, especially those with a large Hispanic population, in clinical settings. I grew up in Gooding, Idaho, but I also lived in Mexico for a while. I love staying active, playing sports, and listening to music. I enjoy running, lifting, soccer, and tennis. During the spring, if I'm not on campus, you’ll probably find me at Highland High School coaching their tennis team. I have a very broad musical taste. I enjoy listening to Spanish artists such as Peso Pluma and Bad Bunny, but I also enjoy listening to artists such as J Cole, Central Cee, and Katy Perry.
During my time here at ISU, I have become part of clubs such as Los Estudiantes Después (LED), Society for the Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS), the pre-professionals club, and Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity. I’m preparing to do research at the Morgan lab, where we will be researching cannabis for medical uses. Some advice that I would give to people starting college would be talk to everyone, don’t be scared to ask questions, and definitely get on Google Calendar.
