Paul Slezak, Ph.D.
Idaho National Laboratory
Paul is a geochemist specializing in mineral deposits at the Idaho National Lab and is a joint appointee with the Department of Geoscience at ISU. He is a former Irish Research Council Postdoctoral Fellow from the Irish Centre for Research in Applied Geoscience (iCRAG) in Dublin, Ireland. Paul has a BSc from New Mexico Tech (USA), an MSc from Queen’s University (Canada), and a PhD from James Cook University (Australia). Prior to his PhD, Paul previously worked in the geological/geotechnical engineering and mining/mineral exploration sectors. His research focusses mainly on the rare earth elements (REE), their deportment in minerals, and geochemical controls in minerals and ore systems, in particular carbonatites, with the ultimate goals to help develop and optimize geometallurgical recovery and chemical separation methods for REE.
