Veterans

The first PAs were Navy Corpsmen who served in the Vietnam War, later transitioning to civilian life as Physician Assistants. The Idaho State University Physician Assistant Studies Program is dedicated to remembering the beginning of the profession among the military service members who strive toward goals much bigger than themselves.

Thank you for your service.

The PA profession is primed to channel your knowledge, dedication, skills, and passion to which you are already committed into another setting: healthcare. We would be honored to help you continue to help others.

The Latino Health Track Scholarship Opportunity

The PA Program has established a scholarship for students accepted into the ISU PA Program who demonstrate a career objective to serve Latino communities. Up to half of the six stipends ($8,000 total for two years, each) are reserved for student veterans.

Students who are accepted into the Latino Health Track (LHT) commit to enrolling in the offered PAS Medical Spanish courses; pursuing the Graduate Certificate in Spanish for the Health Professions (SHP); and to completing five of the eight clinical rotations in high-density Latino areas.

While a greater language proficiency will increase competitiveness, it is not required, nor is Latino heritage. Students offered a seat to the PA Program or who are placed on the alternate list will be sent an application in the summer prior to matriculation.

Visit the Medical Spanish Opportunities page to learn more about the LHT & SHP.

Veteran Resources at ISU

ISU is committed to veterans in the community. ISU encourages the enrollment and support of military veterans, service members, and their families by providing a network of support programs and services. Leading this effort is the Veteran Student Service Center.
