Description:
Role of the APRN or PA at the Pocatello Free Clinic (PFC): The APRN or PA is responsible for managing health problems and coordinating health care in accordance with State and Federal rules and regulations (assessment of health status, diagnosis, development of plan of care and treatment, implementation of treatment plan, and evaluation of patient status as defined by the applicable American Academy Standards 2010). The APRN or PA at the PFC must be able to work autonomously and also in collaboration with other healthcare professionals. The APRN or PA must possess a graduate-level education, as well as clinical training in medicine, qualifying them to diagnose and treat health conditions of the body and mind to the extent of their scope of practice, licensure, certification, and education. Accountability The APRN or PA at the PFC is accountable to work within the scope of practice of their licensure, certification, and education. The APRN or PA at the PFC is directly accountable and receives direction from the clinic manager or Executive Director. Performance evaluations are conducted initially at 90 days, and yearly after that. Responsibilities of the APRN or PA The provider’s responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Understand and act as an advocate/spokesperson to promote the PFC’s mission • Understand and maintain the PFC Dispensary policy • Adherence to PFC dress code • Maintain and provide the PFC copies of the following: o Current Idaho State License o Current provider card in Basic Life Support Duties of the APRN or PA The APRN or PA duties include but are not limited to: • Function autonomously to perform age-appropriate history and physical, develop and provide appropriate treatment plan and provide counsel within scope of practice, licensure, and certification • Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic tests • Prescribe appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities • Monitor effectiveness of interventions • Facilitate transition within and between health-care settings including but not limited to, consultation and collaboration with other medical and non-medical professionals • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals • Educate and guide client and their family (if appropriate), and/or significant other regarding preventative care, medical issues including disease process, use of medication and prescribed treatments, and healthy lifestyle choices • Establish and maintain medical records and/or other required records within the requirements of state and federal regulations for free clinics • Work with clinic manager or Executive Director, staff, and Board of Directors to develop policies and procedures for the PFC Qualifications Educational/Certifications • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program or Physician Assistant Program • Current ARRN/NP or PA license in Idaho, or ability to qualify for Idaho license • Current provider card in Basic Life Support Desired Qualities • Work effectively in an autonomous environment as well as a member of the community of health care providers • Possess and utilize effective verbal and written communication skills • Display professionalism in all situations • Documentation skills as required by state and federal rules and regulations for free clinics • Exhibit time management skills and dependability • Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills and have the ability to collaborate with a variety of volunteers, staff and community members • Interest or expertise in mental health • Interest or expertise in the effect of poverty on mental and physical health • Willingness to facilitate use of myriad of community resources to deliver care and support for clients • Work as medical partner with Southeast Idaho Behavioral Crisis Center Physical Demands Visual/hearing ability sufficient to comprehend written/verbal communication. We are looking for a full time Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to work as an important part of a multidisciplinary team at an outpatient clinic located in Indianapolis/Carmel, IN. The schedule for this position would include patient hours Monday-Thursday: 8 AM – 6:30 PM (with no afterhours call). The selected candidate with join three physicians and two PA-C’s whose specialties range from Psychiatry to Neurology, Anesthesiology, and Interventional Pain Medicine. Other healthcare providers that are an integral part of the team include psychology and occupational therapy. The qualified candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills and work well in a team environment as well as independently utilizing resources of the group. Our practice offers a multidisciplinary approach to a complex and challenging patient population. We welcome those additions to our staff that come prepared to learn from their colleagues and those who can help us learn from them. Specific responsibilities will include (but are not limited to): PAIN MANAGEMENT AND/OR PSYCHIATRIC PATIENTS Assist in the evaluation and development of treatment plans for new pain management and/or psychiatric patients. Assist in the pharmacological management of pain and psychiatric patients. Make appropriate referrals to consulting specialists. Assist the physician is determining the need for interventional treatment. Administer Mini mental Status exams Stem cell infusion supervision Pharmacogenomic evaluations Pain and psychiatry related IV ordering and supervision Coordination of care with other providers within and outside the clinic Qualified candidates must possess an Indiana license to practice and be in good standing.
