Chemical Safety - Laboratories (Chemical Hygiene)
A Chemical Hygiene Plan has been established to protect faculty, staff, and students from the health & safety risks of chemicals in laboratories. This plan has been written to ensure compliance with the OSHA Chemical Hygiene requirements found at 29 CFR 1910.1450.
The key elements of the Chemical Hygiene Plan include the following:
- Laboratory-Specific Safety Plans
- Chemical Safety Training
- Hazard Identification (labeling, safety data sheets, exposure assessment)
- Chemical Storage
- Hazard Controls
- Emergency Response
