Master of Education in Literacy, MEd

Program Information
The fully online Master of Education in Literacy program empowers educators to become transformative literacy leaders who help students unlock the power of reading, writing, and communication. Designed for passionate educators who want to make a deeper impact, the 30-credit program develops advanced expertise in literacy instruction, assessment, and research-based teaching practices that support learners across diverse classrooms. Coursework blends theory with practice, allowing educators to apply new strategies directly in their classrooms and communities.
Students also engage in hands-on field research and a capstone project or case study that demonstrates their ability to evaluate literacy challenges and implement meaningful solutions. By the end of the program, graduates are prepared not only to improve student literacy outcomes, but also to lead school and district initiatives that promote evidence-based literacy practices.
As a prerequisite, candidates must have passed the Idaho Comprehensive Literacy Assessments or Idaho Comprehensive Literacy Course (or similar from another state) and must hold a valid teaching certificate. Candidates with an Idaho teacher certification seeking an Idaho K-3 Literacy endorsement must meet the requirements of the State Board of Education.
