"I started my occupational therapy education as an out of state student, who had never been to Idaho prior to my first week of school. I applied to several other schools when I was graduating from the University of Nebraska at Kearney and I was accepted into three of them. After being accepted I laid my offers down on the table and I chose the ISU MOT program based on the following two things: reasonably priced graduate program tuition and an excellent passing rate on the national board exam. After graduating from ISU in the spring of 2017 I can tell you that choosing ISU was definitely the right choice. Some of the characteristics of the program that I think helped me to grow and develop as a therapist are the small class sizes, which really allows you to get to know your professors well and allows lectures to be very inclusive and interactive. The faculty at ISU does an awesome job of getting you hands on experience through the use of community volunteers and interaction with community resources such as Early Learning centers to facilitate learning that you can commit to memory. They also have several guest lectures from people in other disciplines to expand your knowledge. I had nothing, but positive interactions with my professors and I enjoyed having the opportunity to attend the AOTA conference in 2016 and 2017 with my classmates and faculty. through the scholarship opportunities that are available through the MOT program and the Graduate School program at ISU. I felt confident going into boards and I passed with room to spare. I truly enjoyed my time in the ISU MOT program and I felt that I not only developed knowledge, but also grew as a person." "The OT program at ISU provided me the skills and knowledge to become a competent occupational therapist. The professors are experts in their fields and were willing to help with ANYTHING in order for me to succeed. I loved the endless hands-on experiences, small classroom sizes, and relationships that formed. I started my first job working as the only occupational therapist at a hospital in a rural community, which required me to work in all acute-care, inpatient rehabilitation and outpatient settings.
