What is a T-Org?

  • A T-Org is a code used for the HR/Payroll system to group employees together for timesheet purposes.
  • Think of it as a "timesheet group" that brings together employees from the same area or team who have the same supervisor in one group.
  • Each group (T-Org) has one primary approver who reviews and approves the timesheets for all employees in that group.
  • T-Orgs belong to one department and can't be moved to another.
  • If a T-Org hasn't been used for 6 months, HR may reassign it to someone else in the same department.
  • Submitting a PR for a position does not automatically provide time approver access. You need to submit a BAR to get access.
  • Approvers are linked to their Positions. If your job changes, you may lose access to approve timesheets.

If you don't use Banner yet:

Note: If you're unfamiliar with Banner or need assistance, please contact your department's administrative assistant(s) for guidance.

  • A proxy is someone who can approve timesheets on your behalf when you're away.
  • To ensure continuity, we recommend that every Time Approver assign at least one proxy as a backup in case of emergencies.
  • Submit your request at least 10 days before your vacation.

  1. Submit a BAR request and name the approver.
  2. The approver must add the proxy in the system.
  3. Follow the proxy setup guide for help.

Note: Submit your request at least 10 days before your vacation. We recommend that every Time Approver assign a proxy—not just before planned absences, such as vacations —but as a general practice, to ensure coverage in case of unexpected emergencies.

  • Is the approver the same as the supervisor?

Not always. It depends on who manages the employee.

  • Can I approve my own timesheet?

No, ISU policy doesn't allow that.

  • Can a temp or student be an approver?

No, only benefited employees with a PCN can do it.

  • Can a T-Org move to another department?

No, it stays within the same department.

  • When should I set up a proxy?

Before vacations or just in case of emergencies.

  • Can I Change My T-Org Title?

Yes. If you would like a different name, please email abhilaasyachennur@isu.edu or lyndiduff@isu.edu.

  • How Do I Move Employees to a Different T-Org?

Submit an EPAF (Electronic Personnel Action Form) for each employee. Visit the EPAF page for help. Email epaf@isu.edu if you have questions.

Note: Keep in mind that each situation might need a different approach. Sometimes, it’s more efficient to change the approver for a T-Org rather than reassigning all employees. For guidance or help, feel free to contact abhilaasyachennur@isu.edu or lyndiduff@isu.edu.
