Employee Appreciation Week

April 8 - 12, 2019

Idaho State University is proud of our faculty and staff who assist, teach, and support our students, visitors, colleagues and community! To thank our amazing faculty and staff for their efforts we will celebrate Employee Appreciation Week in Meridian, Twin Falls, Idaho Falls and Pocatello! This celebration week includes a variety of activities and events focused around fun, honoring one another, and professional development opportunities for all.

Efforts were made to extend sessions to other campuses via DL whenever possible.

Please coordinate with your supervisors and teams to plan your attendance in these activities to ensure offices can remain open to support student needs.

Idaho State University Campus Recreation and the Wellness Center are hosting a free week for faculty and staff with a valid Bengal ID card as part of Employee Appreciation Week.

Monday Events

Workshop: Carrots & Sticks: Understanding the Science Behind Motivation
Pocatello Pond SUB Salmon River Suites

Twin Falls 131
Idaho Falls TAB 279

Presented by Dr. Rob Lion, Associate Professor of Human Resource Development, College of Education.

The word “motivation” is one of the most commonly touted terms in the world of work and academics. We use it quite frequently when attempting to explain why people might excel at some things and struggle with other things. But, what do we really know about motivation? Often times we hear people use the terms intrinsic and extrinsic when attempting to describe one’s motivational orientations, but what do those terms truly mean? Is one inherently better than the other? Can one be both intrinsically and extrinsically motivated at the same time? Through discussion-based session, we will explore a theoretical framework behind the science of motivation in an attempt to prepare participants to better understand how to monitor and manage one’s own motivation, as well as the motivation of others.
