Community Resources

Pocatello has a population of approximately 54,000 and is nestled into the Portneuf Valley created by the Bannock, Portneuf, and Pocatello Ranges.  Over the years, the valley, ranges, and Portneuf River have provided scenic sites for biology student research projects. In addition to education and research, the ISU Department of Biological Sciences participates in many other activities around the ISU campus and in the greater Pocatello area.

By connecting with the people of our community, the faculty, staff, and students of the department hope to inspire everyone to be more involved in the sciences and to become citizen scientists.
