New Faculty Orientation

New Faculty Orientation is a structured introduction, typically taking place during contract week (the week before courses begin) designed to help newly hired faculty transition smoothly into their roles here at ISU. It provides new faculty with:

  • Essential institutional information such as the University's mission, values, strategic priorities, policies, HR processes, and key campus resources.

  • Teaching and learning support including overviews of instructional technologies, student support services, and evidence-based teaching practices.

  • Connections with colleagues and opportunities to meet campus leaders, fellow new faculty, and support staff, helping build early community and networks.

  • Guidance on expectations and information on service responsibilities, research support, and campus procedures.

Overall, NFO helps new faculty understand the institution, feel welcomed, and get equipped for a successful start. Below are some resources that you may find useful as a new faculty member.
