9/11 Day

Rise and Remember 9/11 Day of Service will lead four service projects in observance of 9/11 Day. These service projects will create a sense of unity and belonging while addressing community needs related to hunger, health, homelessness, and appreciation for first responders. Three of the four projects will be in collaboration with Benny’s Pantry, the ISU campus food pantry that provides resources
for students experiencing food insecurity, housing instability, and other financial challenges. One project will be in collaboration with the IRH’s ISU 9/11 Day of Service AmeriCorps program and will focus on appreciating local first responders who serve tirelessly in the community. These projects are supported by 9/11 Day and Popeye's.

The projects will include the following:

1) Supporting Benny’s Pantry's new community garden.

2) Preparing meal and birthday kits for Benny’s Pantry.

3) Assembling hygiene kits for Benny’s Pantry.

4) Preparing appreciation items for local first responders.

Mission:  Honoring 9/11 through service, strengthening our community through action, and inspiring unity through compassion.

The Rise and Remember 9/11 Day of Service unites individuals in meaningful service to honor the lives lost and heroes who emerged on September 11, 2001. Through acts of compassion, gratitude, and community engagement, we inspire people to transform remembrance into action. By addressing local needs related to hunger, health, homelessness, and first responder support, we foster a stronger sense of belonging, resilience, and shared responsibility. Together, we rise in service, remember through action, and strengthen our community one act of kindness at a time.

Vision:  A community united by service, strengthened by compassion, and inspired to turn remembrance into meaningful action.

We envision communities where remembrance inspires action, service strengthens connections, and every individual feels empowered to make a positive difference. Through collective acts of compassion and civic engagement, we strive to build a future where hunger is reduced, basic needs are met, first responders are valued, and people from all backgrounds come together in unity, resilience, and service to others.
