ISU Women's Basketball Players during National Girls and Women in Sports Day 2022

Idaho State University is proud to celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD). This national day has been proclaimed by Congress every year since 1987, and is honored annually the first week of February. NGWSD recognizes the progress of girls and women in sports, and the benefits that sport and fitness activities can bring to the lives of all girls and women.

During National Girls and Women in Sports Day, the Trailblazer Award is presented to a woman with affiliation to ISU who has provided significant leadership and mentorship to women in sport.  Learn more about past Trailblazer Award Winners

Join the Idaho State University College of Education as we celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day during the ISU Women's Basketball Game on Saturday, February 3, 2024.

At half-time, the 2024 Trailblazer Award will be dedicated to Faye, Naida, and Ruth Yost for their significant contributions to the evolution of women’s sports in Pocatello. This award, given annually, recognizes a woman or women with affiliation to Idaho State University who have provided significant leadership and mentorship to women in sport.

$5.00 game day vouchers (no limit), free shirts, and free pom-poms will be handed out at the game. Immediately following the game, elementary and middle school age children are invited to join ISU women athletes from a variety of sports for a meet/greet and autograph signing in Reed Gym.
