What is TRIO ETS?

Educational Talent Search (ETS) is a federal program designed to support students to complete their high school diploma and continue their postsecondary education in college or vocational technical schools. The program provides academic, career and financial counseling to participants. Our advisors are specialized to support the application process for financial aid and college. To qualify, students must either meet low income guidelines or be a first-generation college student. This program is offered free of charge to participants.

Brief History of the Federal TRIO Programs

The history of TRIO began with Upward Bound (UB) in 1964, followed by Talent Search in 1965, and Student Support Services (SSS) in 1968. By the late 1960's, the term "TRIO" was coined to describe the first three federal programs.

Over the years, the TRIO Programs have been expanded and improved to provide a wider range of services and to reach more students in need of assistance. Today, TRIO consists of 7 different programs that aim to assist students at whichever level of education they are currently in.  These programs include the pre-college youth, undergraduate, masters/phd, veterans, and adult learners.
