Lead, Wood, Wool

A square piece of lead, wool, and wood
PIRA: 4B30.20

Materials: Lead, Wood, Wool

This demo is good to show how every material conducts heat differently. The demo is done by having the students touch the lead, then the wood, then the wool. All of them are at room temperature, but because of how heat is conducted through the different materials they will feel like they have different temperatures. The metal conducts heat very well so it will feel cold as it conducts the heat from your hand. The wood will feel about the same temperature and the wool doesn't conduct heat very well if at all and instead traps the heat you are producing between the fibers.
