Thin slit interference and diffraction can be shown with a laser and a multiple slit slide mounted on an optics bench. The slide and the laser are easily adjustable. The slide shown at top left has single slits, double slits, triple slits, and other multiple slits, all with several slit widths. The room must be made very dark in order for the diffraction and interference patterns to be visible. A beam expander can be attached to the metrologic He-Ne laser as shown at bottom left to provide clearer patterns for multiple slits.
