Color Filters

A light source going through a red filter
PIRA 6F10.20

Use the Sargent Welch high intensity projection lamp to shine light through various sheets of colored cellophane onto different colored objects.  Blue objects will appear black when struck only with red light, red objects will appear black when struck only with blue light, etc..  The room must be very dark in order for this to work well.  Good red objects to use are roses, Coke cans, and the red billiard ball.  A good blue object to use is the blue billiard ball.A slide projector can also be used as a light source. The box and cloth are used to cut out fugitive light emissions from the slide projector. This is shown in the pictures below. Note the projector is on a stand and has a 2 x 4 under its front leg.
