Idaho Center of Gravity

A cut out of Idaho attached to a string near the top
PIRA 1J10.13

Materials: Wood Idaho Cut Out, Weight Near Top

The equipment needed for this demonstration include: a mounted map of Idaho with three small holes around the edge, a string with a weight, and a overhead projector marking pen. The string has a stop positioned along its length so that the map can be suspended by the string. This demonstration has been slightly altered from the usual center of gravity demonstration. The map has been intentionally weighted so that the center of gravity comes out at the state capitol, Boise. (However, The weight may no longer have the center of mass be Boise)
