Alcohol Rocket

A bottle sitting on a ramp
PIRA: 1N22.20 & 1H10.30

Materials: Ethanol Alcohol (95%), Ramp, 2 Liter Bottle with hole near bottom, wood cork tied to a string, Lighter

This demo can be used for a variety of purposes from showing Newton's 3rd law, represent how rockets work, etc.... The rocket is done by setting up a ramp on a cart. Then you tie the cork to the cart using string. Put about a teaspoon or 2 of alcohol in the rocket and cap it with the cork. Then cover the bottom hole with you finger and shake the bottle. Once this is done put the rocket back on the table. Once ready to launch uncover hole and put lighter next to hole for launch. DO NOT STAND BEHIND ROCKET! This can only be done once per bottle as water and carbon dioxide with be left in the bottle and will need to air out before use again.
