Obstetrics

Baby Delivered by Dr. M. Kjos

The community obstetricians are very supportive of our residency and as a result, our obstetrical training is one of our strengths. We are involved with essentially every delivery at Portneuf Medical Center. Most residents will complete 6 obstetrical rotations during residency and can expect to graduate having delivered 100 infants and having performed an additional 20 Cesarean sections as the primary surgeon.

In conjunction with Health West, Inc., our program places Spanish-speaking residents in migrant farm worker perinatal outreach clinics in American Falls.

For those residents who do not intend to do obstetrics, the residency has a non-OB track. The additional hospital medicine and selective time usually will be used for to pursue other specific interests of the resident.

Gynecology / Women's Health

Our gynecology rotations are coordinated Pocatello Women’s Health Clinic and Health West OB/Gyn Clinic to provides a training in colposcopy, cryotherapy, LEEPs and IUD placement. Additionally, we routinely assist the Southeastern District Health Department with STD and Family Planning Clinics.
