Emergency Medicine

Residents help staff the emergency room at Portneuf Medical Center during peak hours. Residents spend 2.25 blocks rotating in the ER. They see and triage patients themselves under the supervision of the emergency room doctors. There is opportunity for suturing, reduction of dislocations and fractures, cast and splint placement, and additional management of acutely ill medical and surgical patients.

Many residents also choose to moonlight in smaller local ERs to gain extra experience and income.
