About the Grounds Team
We provide a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, visitors, and the broader community to enjoy. Our team is responsible for a wide range of campus grounds and landscape operations, including snow removal, lawn care, irrigation installation and maintenance, horticultural practices, water conservation and efficiency initiatives, campus forestry management, sports turf maintenance, event support, equipment maintenance, and landscape design and construction.
Interesting Facts:
- We plant approximately 9,800 flowers annually across campus landscapes
- We maintain a campus tree inventory of 3,802 trees (as of June 2019)
- We employ 14 full-time staff members, supported by 20–40 student & temporary employees
- We strive to create and maintain a pollinator-friendly campus environment
- We remove snow from approximately 30 acres of sidewalks and stairs and 45 acres of parking lots
- We mow more than 100 acres of turf each week during the growing season
- We completed more than $1.3 million in beautification projects in partnership with the Wheatley family
