Program
Description
Biomedical ethics is a rapidly expanding field of study that investigates the ethical issues raised by changes in technology, culture, environment, and law in fields across healthcare and public health. Understanding these issues is vital for students intending to pursue careers in healthcare or public policy. A certificate in biomedical ethics prepares healthcare professionals to respond to ethical issues in the field and understand the constraints upon patients' choices, clinicians' actions, and implications for others who are not directly involved. This training can help set you apart from other applicants for jobs in healthcare and public policy.
Interested students should contact the Dept. of English and Philosophy at ISU about adding the certificate to their degree program. ISU students can register for these courses in an ordinary way. The certificate requires the completion of four courses, 12 credits total, and it is well-suited for both full-time and part-time students.
