Profile

Dr. Omotayo Omotowa is a Clinical Associate Professor at Idaho State University (ISU) School of Nursing. Dr. Omotowa teaches in the undergraduate and graduate programs. Dr. Omotowa is particularly interested in the quality of care outcomes of the older adults residing in nursing homes, staffing standards/levels in nursing homes, and health and aging policy. Dr. Omotowa has served on the Idaho Retired & Senior Volunteer Program advisory board and health fair planning committees. At the state level, Dr. Omotowa is a member of Idaho State Board of Nursing Home Administrators and an assistant Long-Term Care Ombudsman. She currently serves as a member of Thomas geriatric symposium planning committee, geriatric certificate advisory committee, general education requirement committee, committee for exploring health sciences partnership with the University of Namibia, open educational resource committee, and academic dishonesty board at Idaho State University. Dr. Omotowa has and continues to serve on committees and councils in the School of Nursing. She served as an editorial board member for the International Journal of Nursing and Health Care Research.

Dr. Omotowa has authored published articles, co-authored and submitted grant to the National Institute of Health, reviewed journal article and faculty grants proposal, moderated podium presentation, and presented at the 3rd International Aging & Gerontology Conference, STTI Theta Upsilon induction, and Idaho State University.

Dr. Omotowa is a member and former governance chair of Sigma Theta Tau International, Theta Upsilon Chapter. She currently serves as the leadership succession chair of the Theta Upsilon chapter. In addition, Dr. Omotowa is a member of Nurse Leaders of Idaho, American Nurses Association/Idaho Nurses Association.

Dr. Omotowa received her BSN from Lewis Clark State College, Lewiston, Idaho; MSN and PhD in Nursing from Walden University, Minneapolis, Minnesota. Prior to receiving her nursing degrees, Dr. Omotowa received her B.Sc. Political Science from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria, Master in Public Administration from the University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria, and Master of Arts in Political Science from the University of Idaho.
