What is a Classified Postion?

A Classified job is a state position/employee that works at Idaho State University. The salary ranges are determined by the Idaho Department of Human Resources, as are the steps in the hiring process. The vast majority of Classified employees are paid an hourly rate, and must report all hours worked on their timesheets. To receive further information regarding Classified specifications and/or procedures, contact the HR Associate at (208) 282-4828.

Who is my point of contact for Classified jobs?

Stephanie Richardson, HR Specialist, is your first point of contact for any questions regarding Classified positions. Stephanie can be reached via phone at (208) 282-4828 or by email at stephanierichard1@isu.edu. If Stephanie is out of the office or unavailable, and you need immediate assistance, contact Maggie Leitch, HR Business Partner for Talent Acquisition, via phone at (208) 282-3830 or by email at maggieleitch@isu.edu.

The job I want to post needs to be reclassified. What should I do?

To reclassify a current position, you need to complete a Postion Description Questionnaire (PDQ) for review. Stephanie Richardson, HR Specialist, oversees the PDQ process; though Maggie Leitch, HR Business Partner for Talent Acquisition, can assist in Stephanie's absence.

The job I'm trying to hire for doesn't have a Position Control Number (PCN). How do I get a new PCN?

If you need a new position created, you must submit a New Position Request (NPR) for review. Maggie Leitch, HR Business Partner for Talent Acquisition oversees the NPR process; though Stephanie Richardson, HR Specialist, can assist in Maggie's absence.

I need to hire quickly. What's the shortest amount of time I can have a job posted for recruitment?

The Idaho Division of Human Resources requires that a position is open for recruitment for a minimum of one (1) business week, or five (5) business days. The search committee/hiring manager can choose to have a position open for the minimum, or longer, depending on the needs of the department.
