College of Pharmacy Spaghetti Feed to be Held February 24th

Pocatello- The College of Pharmacy's 24th Annual Spaghetti Feed is coming up soon. This event not only serves as a fun time for the community to gather and enjoy some good food, but it is also an important fundraiser to help College of Pharmacy students hold their many community health outreach programs throughout the year. As with years past, 25 percent of the proceeds from the Spaghetti Feed will go towards making a dream come true for a local Make-a-Wish child.

The event will be held Friday, February 24th at 6 p.m. at the Pond Student Union Building Ballroom in Pocatello. There will be a spaghetti dinner, raffle and live auction. The live auction this year features a guided fishing trip on private property, a three-night stay in Sun Valley, a round of golf for four at Huntsman Springs and much more.

Every year, College of Pharmacy students provide flu shots, health screenings and health information to their community. Events like the Spaghetti Feed help provide the students with the materials they need. Last year, the American Pharmacists Association-Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) of Idaho State University received a national award from the American Pharmacists Association for their work in providing vaccinations and information about immunizations to the community. In addition to Operation Immunization, other outreach efforts include Operation Heart, Operation Diabetes and Generation Rx (an educational program that aims to increase public awareness of prescription drug abuse).

Last year, the student pharmacists were able to fully-fund the Make-a-Wish trip to Disneyland for Meg, a local 9-year-old girl with leukemia, and her family. This year, students hope to do the same for Benjamin, a local 3-year-old boy battling acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Benjamin was diagnosed in April of last year and wishes to go to Disneyland in March to meet Buzz Lightyear and Woody.

Admission to the Spaghetti Feed is $5 per person or $20 for a family of four or more. Raffle tickets can be purchased at the event. More info can be found here or by contacting Jake Dixon at or (208) 540-1867.
