I Want to Migrate My ISU Course Content from Moodle
Expand each accordion below for videos that will help you bring your course content from Moodle ISU to ISU Canvas. (If you do not want to bring over all of your content, you may instead opt to build your course directly in ISU Canvas.)
As you prepare to transition your course, please keep in mind that ISU Canvas does not have a direct equivalent for every activity or question type available in Moodle ISU. To learn more about the differences between specific items, please review this Moodle → Canvas document.

- Clean up your Moodle course: Remove any duplicates, unused files, and extra quiz questions; Download and save any videos hosted in Moodle so you can upload them to Panopto in your Canvas course.
- Request a TEMP Moodle course: Create a separate space to prep your content without impacting courses that have actual student data.

- Reduce course size: Delete unused files and compress images; Convert standard PPT files to PDFs; Convert narrated PowerPoints to MP4 videos by selecting "save as" in PowerPoint, then upload the MP4 video to Panopto in your Canvas course.
- Move videos to Panopto in Canvas: Download and save any videos hosted in Moodle so you can upload them to Panopto in your Canvas course.
- Link, don't upload: Use Google Drive, ISU Box, or links to ISU Library instead of uploading files and articles.
- Adopt Canvas's structure: Replace Moodle folders with labeled Canvas modules and pages.

- Check import issues: Click "Import" to review and address flagged problems.
- Relink any external tools: Reconnect tools like Zoom, Turnitin, and Panopto to any relevant assignments or modules.
- Fix broken links: Review and replace missing links flagged in content pages.
- Review quizzes and adjust gradebook settings: Update quiz settings, check for and rewrite discarded questions, rebuild question banks, and adjust assignment groups or weights.

Video 5: Your Next Steps
Apply what you've learned now:
- Relink any external tools: Edit the assignment, select External Tool under Submission Type, and select the desired tool.
- Reconnect Turnitin: Select Assignments in the Course menu, then select the three dots to the right of the + Assignment button to set up Turnitin.
- Reembed Panopto videos: Replace any old Moodle video links by reembedding that Panopto content in Canvas. (If you downloaded your videos from Moodle ISU instead of adding them to Panopto via Moodle, now is the time to upload them to Panopto in your Canvas course, and then embed these videos in the correct Canvas pages.)
- Accept terms & check settings: Accept the terms of service for external tools; verify assignment settings, including grading and due dates.
