Canvas Transition

Coming Fall 2025!

Idaho State University is transitioning to a new learning management system: Canvas! It will be available for teaching in Fall 2025.

Now is the time to prepare your courses for this new platform.

How will you enhance your courses using Canvas's features?

Step 1: Complete ISU Canvas Faculty Essentials.

Learn how ISU's Canvas differs from Moodle ISU and how to migrate your courses.

Step 2: Request additional sandboxes for your courses.

Build “sandbox versions” of your courses after completing the ISU Canvas Faculty Essentials course.

Step 3: Continue learning about ISU Canvas's features and related platforms.

Refine the student experience of your course with these pedagogical approaches and features.

Faculty should complete the ISU Canvas Faculty Essentials course.
Faculty can continue requesting and working in sandbox courses.
Town Hall on the Canvas Transition will be held on September 24th at 11:00am Mountain Time.
Training for Faculty is available.
Training for Students is available.

Town Hall / Celebration on the Canvas Transition (specifics TBD).
All courses are taught using Canvas.
Moodle ISU data will remain available for 2 years to system administrators, in case of grade challenges and incompletes.
- Any instructors needing access to course data will need to open a ticket and the data will be extracted and shared.
- Any students needing to complete coursework will need to do so in Canvas.
