COVID-19 Screening FAQs
I have screening-related questions. Can you help me find answers?
ISU’s COVID-19 website is your best resource for information about the screening process. It is located at the top of all of ISU’s webpages and includes complete lists of FAQs.
- COVID-19 Screening Program https://www.isu.edu/roaringback/covid-screening/
- COVID-19 hotline 208-282-2705
Is it mandatory that I be screened?
Yes. All faculty, staff, student employees, or students who will be physically interacting with other members of the campus community or campus services must participate. If you plan to come to the gym--even if you are taking all classes online--you will need to participate in the screening program.
I am only on campus to use the gym. Do I need to be screened?
Yes. Anyone with an ongoing physical presence on campus will be asked to participate in ISU’s screening program. This includes contractors, affiliates, and gym members. Gym users will need to participate in the screening program. This includes alumni, community, F/S retired, spouse, or dependent gym members.
What are the screening dates and times?
Screening requirements and times have been adjusted. Only one appointment will be required in the month of January, rather than two.

How do I sign up for my screening appointments?
Members would have received instructions at the email on file January 5, 2021 and an updated message on January 14. If you missed the email, there is a link on the isu.edu/camprec webpage to register to be screened. Please note the affiliate screening registration link is different than that provided to students and F/S with a Bengal ID.
Can I drop in for my screening?
You may be able to drop in for your screening, but you are encouraged to register head of time for specific appointment times.
What is the screening process? How long will it take to get screened?
Screenings are non-invasive and saliva-based. It is estimated to take about 5 minutes to get through the screening process. You may sign up for a drive through appointment. For a detailed explanation of the process visit isu.edu/roaringback/covid-screening/ .
What if I refuse to be screened?
Participating in the program is mandatory unless there is an approved religious or medical exemption. Those who refuse to be screened may have their gym privileges revoked.
How does this affect gym or pool users who purchase a day pass or have a 10-punch pass?
Starting January 11, Campus Recreation will suspend drop-in gym use for non-ISU affiliates. This includes day pass and 10-punch pass use. Current ISU Faculty or Staff who have participated in the screening process may continue to drop-in. However guests, community members, and those not included in ISU’s screening program will not be permitted to use the gym or pool on a drop-in basis. Family hours have also been suspended. Drop-in guests who wish to continue using the gym may purchase a membership during business hours and participate in the screening program. Questions about policy changes should be directed to the Campus Recreation Main Office at 208-282-4854.
Can my minor dependent family member go through the screening process and continue to use the gym during Free Family Hours?
Unfortunately, not at this time. Starting January 11, Campus Recreation will suspend Free Family Hours until further notice.
Can I use another negative test instead of going through ISU’s program?
Yes, formally submit documentation online of negative test results performed during the specified mandatory testing windows by an outside laboratory or provider.
Why do I have to get screened?
ISU’s screening program is for people who have no symptoms and no known COVID-19 exposure. This is done to identify individuals with the virus before symptoms develop and before they spread the disease to others.
How do I get an exemption from the screening process?
ISU has a formal process for exemption requests accessible online at isu.edu/roaringback. This includes medical or religious exemptions.
If my results are negative, do I still need to wear a face covering while working out?
Yes. Negative results are just a snapshot in time and do not give an exemption from following the University’s public health guidelines.
Can I quarantine for 14 days instead of participating in the screening program?
No. This program is intended for ongoing screening of asymptomatic individuals to proactively identify undetected COVID-19 positive cases for the continued safety of the campus community.
Do I still need to get screened or wear a mask after I have had the vaccine?
Visit isu.edu/roaringback for more information about public health measures and the COVID-19 vaccine.

COVID GUIDELINES
Face coverings required
-
Face coverings will be required for all patrons and visitors at the Student Recreation Center starting Monday, July 13. This includes wearing a face covering while working out.
This protocol is in response to ISU’s recent face-covering mandate: "All students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors must wear a face-covering in all hallways, public spaces, classrooms, labs, and common areas."
Patrons are encouraged to utilize their own face coverings, but disposable masks are available at the Student Rec Center front for those who do not have a personal face covering.
