The official ISU colors are Roarange and Bengal Black. Precise color matching can be difficult depending on the medium, art or effects being used. The Office of Marketing and Communications recommends the following colors for their proven versatility and consistency across multiple mediums.

Accessible Colors

Per Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), a minimum color contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for normal sized text (12 - 14 points) and 3:1 for large text (14 points bold or 18 points and up) is required for legibility by users with visual impairments. This contrast grid, shows which combinations of Idaho State University’s brand colors meet these standards. Ensure that your combination of text color and background color fall within an AA or AAA contrast rating for normal sized text and a minimum of AA18 rating for large text only.

To retain consistency and accessibility, these standards apply to both print and digital uses.

Accessible Orange

Roarange only meets accessibility standards for text when combined with Growling Gray Dark (large text only) or Black. Roarange text against any other color background does not pass accessibility standards and should be avoided.

An accessible orange shade is available exclusively for use on large orange text against a white background.

This orange should never be used for graphics and is restricted to text that is bold and 14 points or 18 points and above against a white background only.

This shade passes the AA standard only for large text against white.
