Program Information

Make an impact by influencing the youngest of learners as they begin their educational journey. The Bachelor of Arts in Blended Early Childhood Education program will prepare you for a gratifying career teaching children, with or without disabilities or special needs, between the ages of birth and third grade. Your teaching career will include collaborating with other professionals to improve learning opportunities for young children by providing them a strong educational foundation for the best possible lifelong outcomes. Blended Early Childhood Education/Early Childhood Special Education Requirements:

  1. Completion of an Associate's Degree (A.A.S) in Early Childhood Education from an accredited institution of higher learning. Those holding the A.A.S. should check with the advisor in the School of Education's Kent Center for Student Success to determine whether additional general education credits are required for graduation.

The goal of the Early Childhood Education Program is to prepare professionals who have the necessary knowledge, dispositions, and abilities to:

  1. Enhance learning and development of young children, with and without disabilities, between the ages of birth and third grade.
  2. Establish collaborative relationships with families and other professionals in ways that produce outcomes for young children.
  3. View their own professional development as a lifelong endeavor.
  4. Advocate for children, families, and the early childhood profession.

Support, Funding, and Application

Idaho State University Admissions Process

For Undergraduate Students:
  1. Create an account with Idaho State University 

  2. Materials needed include:  

    • Transcripts or GED

    • Official ACT or SAT scores

    • $50 application fee

      (waived for graduates of Idaho high schools)

For Transfer Students:

Must have a 2.0 or better cumulative GPA in fourteen (14) or more credit hours to apply.

  1. Fill out the application 
  2. $50 application fee (waived for graduates of Idaho high schools)
  3. Submit final official transcript(s) from each college attended. If currently attending, in-progress transcripts are accepted, but a final official transcript must be sent upon completion of coursework.

Professional Licensure Disclosure Education Preparation

Idaho State University is regionally accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) and is reporting this information in compliance with Standard 2.G.3. The Education Preparation program is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).

This program is designed to meet the educational requirements for education-related professions in Idaho. If you intend to seek licensure outside of Idaho after finishing your program, use the link below to find information on the state or U.S. territory in which you intend to be licensed to identify whether ISU’s Educator Preparation program meets, does not meet, or if it has not been determined if it meets the educational requirements for licensure. If ISU’s program has not determined if it meets the educational requirements for licensure in the state in question, it may meet all or a portion of the educational requirements. If that is the case, we recommend contacting the licensing agency directly before beginning the ISU program.
