Abdul Khalil Azizi (Khalil)
International Programs Office
I am interested in serving on the Staff Council because I truly value the important role staff play in supporting the university every day. Staff are at the heart of keeping things running smoothly, and I would appreciate the opportunity to help represent their voices and experiences.
In my role, I work with colleagues across different departments, which has given me a strong understanding of both the successes we share and the challenges we sometimes face. I’ve seen how clear communication, mutual respect, and a supportive environment can make a meaningful difference in both morale and productivity.
If selected, I would bring a collaborative and open-minded approach. I believe in listening carefully, respecting different perspectives, and working together to find practical, realistic solutions. At the same time, I value the traditions and systems that have helped the university succeed and believe improvements should build on that strong foundation.
I am especially interested in strengthening communication between staff and leadership and ensuring that staff feel heard and supported. I also believe consistency, professionalism, and transparency are essential in creating a positive and effective workplace.
Overall, I would aim to contribute in a steady and positive way, helping support staff while also advancing the broader mission of the university.

College of Business
I am interested in serving on the Staff Council because I care deeply about the future of higher education and the well-being of the staff who sustain it. In a time of ongoing change at both the university and state level, I believe it is more important than ever that staff voices are actively represented, heard, and valued in institutional conversations.
As a staff member, I have experienced the unique challenges of working in higher education without being in a faculty role. Staff are expected to bring expertise, adaptability, and consistency to keep the university functioning, yet our perspectives are not always included in decision-making processes. This has strengthened my commitment to advocating for more inclusive dialogue and meaningful staff engagement.
My background in Public Administration and Social Work informs a perspective that is both systems-aware and people-centered. I value collaboration, transparency, and equity, and I approach challenges with a focus on practical solutions that support both employees and the institution as a whole.
I would bring a thoughtful, grounded voice to the Staff Council, along with strong listening skills and a commitment to representing staff experiences with honesty and respect. I am motivated to contribute to positive change and help ensure that staff feel recognized as essential partners in the university community

Theresa Brissette
Office of the Dean of Students/Division of Finance/Student Organizations
I am passionate about serving students, co-workers, both classified and non-classified. People that chose to work at ISU deserve representation, financial insight to university spending, and the chance to have their voice heard to create meaningful change at the university, while honoring important traditions.

Amy Kernin Laye
Graduate School of Nursing
I am interested in serving on the Staff Council because I want to contribute to a workplace where employees feel heard, supported, and empowered to do their best work. I see the Council as a connection between staff and leadership. I want ensure communication is transparent, concerns are addressed thoughtfully, and positive changes are driven by real employee experiences.
I would bring a perspective grounded in collaboration, open-mindedness, and a genuine commitment to representing diverse viewpoints. I value listening, asking thoughtful questions, and working constructively toward solutions that benefit the staff and university. I also understand that staff members have different roles, challenges, and priorities, and I hope those differences are acknowledged and respected in Council discussions.
Additionally, I bring a proactive mindset and a willingness to engage. My goal is to help foster an environment where staff feel valued and confident that their voices matter.
Serving on the Staff Council would be an opportunity to give back, strengthen connections across the organization, and help shape a more inclusive and responsive workplace.

I hope to add my voice and world experiences to other staff members while we support Idaho State University with Goals set before us. I also hope to also learn from others and hope to refine the skills I already have and maybe help others to develop theirs along the way.
