Office: Reed Gym 242
Brief Bio:
I complete action research projects that teach students in real-time and use storytelling and podcasting as a means to connect community voices to policy makers and decision makers. These projects work to improve health status, social justice and wellness of individuals, communities and organizations in rural and underserved areas – especially in the Rocky Mountain West. I work to build trust between rural and underserved communities and governmental and public health institutions. My work has involved direct services, program administration, research and volunteerism. Populations of focus in the rural West have included victims of child abuse, victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, Hispanic agricultural workers, Native American populations, persons in poverty and individuals receiving and applying for disability, food stamps, Medicaid and emergency assistance. My international experience includes working with rural programs in Peru and 13 European countries – most currently, Switzerland. I am a proud board member of the Idaho Rural Health Association and co-produce their podcast: Eye on Idaho: Stories from Rural Places.
