Medication Management Clinic at ISU-Meridian

MERIDIAN - August 10, 2021

A new Medication Therapy Management Clinic in the Treasure Valley, located at Idaho State University's Meridian campus, will provide point-of-care testing, comprehensive medication management, and will expand to offer vaccines. In addition, they will be available to answer drug and medical related questions from practitioners and patients, collaborating with other departments in the clinic.

There will be two primary pharmacists at the clinic: Nathan Spann, a clinical assistant professor in the College of Pharmacy, and Kevin Cleveland, an associate professor and Director of the Idaho Drug Information Service, which provides free health care information to consumers across the United States.

“We will have other pharmacy faculty available to help during the week as well,” Cleveland said. “We will have students working and completing their required practice hours, and pharmacy interns providing patient care services under the supervision of the pharmacist.”

Those working in the clinic will also share a collaborative relationship with other health care professionals and students working in other areas.

The approach of this clinic will provide comprehensive care through interprofessional work with other providers in the clinic. Additionally, the faculty will serve as role models of practice that students can take with them into other practices.

Cleveland said the university is providing a crucible for innovation, especially with the expanded role pharmacists can play in patient care, helping their patients reach health outcomes that matter. The campus location will also serve to benefit students, faculty, and staff, as well as the community at large.

“It is great to be on the ground floor of this new clinic,” Cleveland said. “I am excited to see the clinic grow and evolve to provide the best care to patients.”
