Captioner
Job Summary:
The Captioner is responsible for creating accurate, timely, and grammatically correct captions for live or prerecorded audio and video content. This role supports accessibility, compliance with legal standards (such as ADA), and enhances content usability for a broader audience, including individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Key Responsibilities:

Transcribe spoken content into readable, synchronized captions for video or audio content.

Provide captions for classes materials

Edit and proofread captions for accuracy in spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

Sync captions with audio/video timing using captioning software.

Research terminology and names to ensure spelling accuracy.

Ensure captions meet style guides, readability, and accessibility standards (e.g., FCC, WCAG, ADA).

Maintain confidentiality and data security for all content handled.
Qualifications:

Exceptional listening, typing, and written communication skills.

Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.

Proficiency with captioning or transcription tools (e.g., CaptionMaker, Verbit, Rev, Otter.ai, Adobe Premiere).

Familiarity with accessibility standards and captioning best practices.

Ability to handle sensitive or confidential content professionally.
Preferred Skills:

Prior experience in captioning, transcription, or stenography.

Knowledge of multiple languages or sign language is a plus.
