Mission and Goals
The ISU Department of Nutrition and Dietetics' mission and goals serve as the foundation for every aspect of the Master of Science/Dietetic Internship program, guiding curriculum development, clinical experiences, and research initiatives. They define the skills, values, and outcomes we expect from our graduates and shape how we support students on their path to becoming Registered Dietitian Nutritionists.
Mission
The mission of the Idaho State University Master of Science in Nutrition – Dietetic Internship is to prepare competent entry-level registered dietitian nutritionists who collaborate with other health professionals and work to improve the health of individuals and communities through coursework, research and a supervised practice experience.
Goals
Goal 1
Program graduates are professionally competent entry-level registered dietitian nutritionists through a comprehensive supervised practice experience
Objectives:
- At least 80% of program interns complete program within 24 months (150% of program length).
- Of graduates who seek employment, 75 percent are employed in nutrition and dietetics or related fields within 12 months of graduation.
- At least 90% of program graduates take the CDR credentialing exam for dietitian nutritionists within 12 months of program completion.
- The program’s one-year pass rate (graduates who pass the registration exam within one year of first attempt) on the CDR credentialing exam for dietitian nutritionists is at least 80%.
- Of those employers who respond to the survey, 90% of employers will rate program graduates’ preparation for entry-level practice as satisfactory or higher.
Goal 2
Program graduates will work collaboratively to improve the health of individuals and communities.
Objectives:
- 50% of employers over a three-year period will rate program graduates’ collaborative work toward improving the health of the population they serve as satisfactory or higher.
- 50% of graduates over a three-year period will participate in individual and community health improvement efforts within the first year following graduation.
