Round Table 2025: “After the M.A. – Opportunities on the Horizon”
The panelists will guide the conversation around the following themes:
Academic opportunities after graduation, employment opportunities in the eductional field, work and professional development opportunities in non-academic areas.
Luisa Muñoz Cantú
Dr. Luisa Muñoz Cantú holds a B.A. in Applied Linguistics to TEFL by Universidad
Autónoma de Nuevo León, a Master of Education with a minor in Teaching English as a Second Language and a Doctorate in Education in Bilingual Education, both awarded by Texas A&M University-Kingsville. She’s been a professor in the major of Applied Linguistics at Facultad de Filosofía y Letras for 31 years in areas such as Sociolinguistics, Teacher Training, English, and Public Speaking. At present, along teaching in the major, she is the Dean of the Foreign Language Learning and Certification Center in Fac. De Filosofía y Letras, UANL.
Laura Hernández Ramos
Laura Hernández Ramos, jefa de estudios de Tía Tula Colegio de español y traductora literaria de coreano. Graduada en Traducción e Interpretación por la Universidad de Salamanca, realizó un máster de traducción literaria en el Korean Literature Translation Institute de Seúl y el máster de español como Lengua Extranjera en la Universidad Internacional de la Rioja. Comenzó su carrera en Corea del Sur, donde durante cinco años trabajó como traductora, profesora de español, examinadora DELE y creadora de tareas DELE para el Instituto Cervantes. Desde 2016 continúa su carrera ya desde Salamanca.
Olga Cruz Montoya
Dra. Olga Cruz Montoya, Doctora por la Universidad Pablo de Olavide, de Sevilla, es profesora titular en el Departamento de Filología y Traducción de esta universidad, donde imparte clases en el Grado en Traducción e Interpretación, así como en el Máster Universitario de Enseñanza de Español como lengua extranjera, del cual es también coordinadora.
Sus principales líneas de investigación son la enseñanza del español como L2/LE y el análisis del discurso digital y de los medios de comunicación, temas sobre los que ha publicado numerosos artículos en monográficos y revistas especializadas.

Dr. Alec Schumacher, Associate Professor of Spanish
(Gonzaga University, Spokane, WA, USA)
Alec Schumacher is Associate Professor of Spanish at Gonzaga University. His areas of research include Chilean poetry, the neo-avant-garde, and translation. He has published several articles on Chilean poet Juan Luis Martínez and other avant-garde poets. He has translated works by Jorge Arbeleche, Elvira Hernández, and Luis Correa Díaz. His translation, The Chilean Flag, was nominated for the National Translation Award in Poetry 2020 by ALTA (American Literary Translators Association).
Dr. Camila Gonzalez Ortiz, Lecturer of Latin American Studies
(University of Reading, UK)
Dr. Camila González Ortiz is a Chilean theatre director, translator, and researcher based in UK. She currently lecturer in Latin American Studies at the University of Reading.
Her areas of interest lie at the intersection of performance, theatre studies, politics, and translation, particularly focusing on Latin American theatre practices from the 20th and 21st centuries.
She is a founding member of the London-based Out of the Wings Collective, which specialised in translating and promoting drama from the Spanish and lusophone speaking worlds. She has translated into Spanish Caryl Churchill’s Escaped Alone (2016), Chris Thorpe’s Victory Condition (2017), and Magda Romaska’s Opheliamachine (2012); and into English You Shall Love (Tú amarás) and State of Vegetation (Estado Vegetal) by Chilean playwrights Pablo Manzi and Manuela
Infante respectively.
As a theatre director she has worked with Festival Internacional Teatro a Mil (Chile), LIFT Festival, SPILL Festival, Greenwich+Docklands International Festival, The Royal Court Theatre, among others.
Currently she is working on the monograph The Citizens’ Turn: Contesting Neoliberalism in Contemporary Chilean Theatre, and she is co-editing with Professor Catherine Boyle (King’s College London) an anthology of Chilean drama in English translation.
