Brittney Guinn, RN
Instructor, Veteran to Nurse Program
208-282-1028
My name is Brittney Guinn and I am the current Veteran to Nurse instructor. I am a Navy Corpsman veteran of 6 years; I honorably discharged out of the Navy in 2013. During my time as a corpsman, I had the privilege to experience a variety of medical fields; from labor and delivery, to urgent care clinics, pediatrics, mental health, and emergency field medicine. I specialized during my enlistment and became a felid medicine corpsman and a certified psychiatric technician. I was stationed at three duty stations and deployed twice; all were invaluable experiences that I am very grateful to have served.
I came to Idaho in 2013, with my husband, to start my nursing journey. I was the first applicant to the Veteran to Nurse program and graduated with the very first cohort and obtained my licensed practical nursing license. After passing my Idaho nursing boards, I immediately started working as a correctional nurse in a women’s facility. I continued on through the College of Technology Associate Degree Registered Nurse Program and received my RN. During my nursing education, I had two, beautiful children. I continued working as a correctional nurse until coming to Idaho State University College of Technology to be the new Veteran to Nurse instructor. I still work out side of the University part time because, although I love instructing future nurses, I also love being a nurse and doing patient care. I just can’t seem to part with it.
