Applicants are responsible for ensuring that they submit the online program application, are accepted at ISU, and that all documentation/materials are submitted to Student Services by the April 3rd deadline in order to be considered for admission. Application requirements for the PTA program may change from year to year.
Fall 2026 Application Cycle opens December 1, 2025 and closes April 3rd, 2026.
Common questions about the application process
Question: What if I am currently enrolled in a preference class(es) at ISU this spring semester? Can I take credit for them on the application?
Answer: No, points are not awarded to courses that have not been completed by the Application submission deadline. However, please identify which preference classes you are currently enrolled in on your application.
Question: I will have transfer credit(s) coming into ISU. How will I know they will work for my application?
Answer: It is the student's responsibility to make sure credits transfer. It is best to discuss the transferability of credits with the Student Services Office. Please contact them at (208) 282-2622.
Question: How do I submit my application?
Answer: It is the student's responsibility to make sure all required materials are submitted to the main Student Services Office at:

Question: Do I need to submit all of the components of the application (Application, Letters of Recommendation, Observation Hours Documentation forms) together, at the same time?
Answer: It is recommended that you submit all the components together to ensure articles are not lost in the mailing process. You can submit the various components separately, but make sure to follow-up with student services to ensure that correspondence has been received.
Question: How do I make my application more competitive in the selection process?
Answer: It is suggested that applicants have as many of the preference courses completed with the best GPA possible.
Question: What are suggestions for success before and after being accepted into the PTA program?
Answer: Utilize tutors and study groups so you are comfortable with working and learning in a group setting.
Question: Is this an online or hybrid program?
Answer: This program is an in-person program and attendance on the Pocatello, Idaho campus is required.
Question: Does the program require the Clinical Affiliations be completed outside of the area?
Answer: A student is expected to relocate to an area outside of a 75 mile radius from Idaho State University’s Pocatello, Idaho campus as determined by the program for at least one clinical affiliation, but possibly both required clinical affiliations. Expenses incurred from any relocation (including housing, transportation, food, onboarding requirements, insurance, etc.) are the responsibility of the student. Please refer to the PTA Program Student Handbook for more information.
Question: Can I complete a Clinical Affiliation in another state other than Idaho?
Answer: Yes, Clinical Affiliations in other states are possible.
