Practical Nursing Program

Admission Process

Admission to the LPN Program is determined during Spring semester for the cohort beginning Fall semester the same year.

Students must have a complete application by February 1 to be considered for admission.

Please review the Application Checklist to ensure all required materials are submitted to our new office at the Eames complex:

  • Postal Address 921 S. 8th Ave, Stop 8230, Pocatello, ID 83209
  • Physical Address for the Eames Complex is 1999 Alvin Ricken Dr. Pocatello, ID, 83201.

Admission is competitive and criteria are based on:

  • GPA
  • Normed Scoring on Nationally Standardized Testing in Reading, Math, English and Science (Beginning Fall 2019, TEAS will be the test used for the Practical Nursing program)
  • Years of experience working as a CNA

TEAS Testing

The ATI TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills) is designed specifically to assess a student's preparedness entering the health science fields. Studies show a consistent link between a student’s performance on the TEAS and future academic success.

Applicants are responsible for purchasing and scheduling TEAS Testing. The PN program will provide testing for applicants with no additional proctor fees. The TEAS test must be completed by the February 1st deadline. To schedule testing at ISU see the link below. Already taken the TEAS? If an applicant has completed the TEAS previously within 12 months of the application deadline they can request an official transcript be sent to Tashina Hunsaker at Idaho State University PN Program.
