Recent Events

The DRC is now open and has been able to hold its first events.

  • The ISU Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program was able to utilize the space at the Outdoor DRC to recreate a realistic emergency situation. The students were able to train in a situation they had not seen before. They were able to train in a mass casualty situation with the use of moulage, which entails creating realistic looking fake injuries on the 'victims'.
  • The local Pocatello Fire Department's search and rescue team was able to practice their rescue skills at the DRC by saving a victim in a simulated building collapse.
  • Snake River Search, Inc. was able to use the Indoor DRC to conduct a K9 training. The training consisted of 9 handlers and 11 K9s practicing their live and remnant search skills. It provided the K9s practice in locating live people and pointing them out to the handlers.
  • Dr. Mustafa Mashal gave a presentation on the DRC during the Alumni Town Hall. He covers the details of the DRC, trainings that have been conducted, and future plans for the DRC.
