On-Campus Dual Enrollment

Idaho State University offers on-campus dual enrollment courses through the Early College Program. These courses allow high school students to earn both high school and college credits. Students can attend a course on ISU campus or online. 

Students enrolled in dual credit courses experience college-level coursework, complete their degree earlier, and can transfer their ISU credits to other colleges and universities. Learn more at isu.edu/ecp.

The registration deadline for summer 2020 courses is May 22, 2020. If you would like to register for courses after the deadline has passed, please contact us.

Requirements to Participate

  • Have a 3.0 high school GPA.
  • Be at least 16 years old (at start of course) or have successfully completed at least one-half of high school graduation requirements as certified by the high school.
  • Obtain recommendation from a high school counselor if the requirements listed above are not met.
  • Apply to Idaho State University as an Early College Program Student at apply.isu.edu.
  • Submit a Permission Form with student signature, parent/guardian signature, and the signature of a high school official verifying eligibility to enroll in a college level course.   

 

Cost of Attendance

  • Courses offered on an ISU campus are $75/credit + applicable fees

 

Advanced Opportunities   

  • Students are allocated $4,125 from the State of Idaho
  • Pays for dual credit courses, overload courses, and college-credit bearing exams

1. Go to www.isu.edu/apply and select the  "Early College" Apply button

2. Profile: First time users will click on Create an account and complete a student profile. Tip: Write down your log-in information! Returning users will Log into their student profile from this page. Students MUST complete an application after creating their profile! Everyone will click on “View or Submit Application” and “Start a New Early College Program Application for High School Students

3. Application (all items marked with a red asterisk are required):

  • Entry Term: Select the term that your dual enrollment course begins (NOT when you plan to enroll after high school). Choose “FALL” if your course starts at the beginning of the school year (including Trimester 2), choose “SPRING” if your course begins spring semester or Trimester 3.
  • Student Type: “Early College-Taking college courses while in high school”
  • Academic Program: "Early College Academic or PTE Advanced Opportunities" (PTE is for students taking Technical Dual Credit only. When in doubt, use Early College)
  • Personal Section: Note: if your mail is delivered to a P.O. Box, please enter this instead of a street address
  • Academic Plans: Should already show Early College, click Save & Continue
  • Demographics: You will need your SSN (or LPN & Visa Type) if you correctly know them, Click Save & Continue
  • Family: Please select which best applies to you
  • Education: Please complete by selecting Country: United States, State/Providence: Idaho, and typing the city of your high school and click search.  Select your high school from the select organization drop down menu and click select and enter your graduation month and year. If you know your counselor's name please complete, but not required. 
  • Certification & Signature: You will select yes to the certification questions, select your security questions and sign your application. Your security questions are important to remember, as you will be asked these by the IT Service Desk if you call for your username and password  Click “Submit Application”

Print, complete, and return Parent/Guardian Permission Form (required for all students) and Liability Waiver Form (required for on-campus and online students)

Access the Assumption of Risk, Release and Liability Waiver Form for Enrollment of Minor Students here (mandatory for students under 18).

At any point during this process, you may choose to save the application at the bottom of the page and return at a later time to complete. You can find the incomplete application in your profile by going to isu.edu/apply. Click on the Early College button, Log In, and choose "View or Submit Applications."

1. Apply to the Early College Program at isu.edu/apply. You only need to apply once to the Early College Program. If you have already been admitted, please skip to step 2.

2. Submit High School Verification/Parent Permission and On Campus Liability Waiver Forms. Fax completed forms to ECP office.

3. Get username and password for MyISU. Please check acceptance email for information about obtaining your username and password. For additional assistance, call the IT Service desk at 208-282-4357.

4. Register for classes.

  • Log on to MyISU.
  • Enter your username and password and click Submit
  • Click on the three lines in the upper left and select Discover
  • Search for the Registration Tools card.
  • Click on Register for Classes

5. Apply for Advanced Opportunities funding
