Idaho governor Brad Little has appointed Diana Livingston Friedley, professor of music, vice chair of the Idaho Commission on the Arts (ICA).
ICA, a state agency under the governor’s office, works to ensure that Idahoans can access the arts and arts education. As vice chair, Friedley will help the commission allocate grant funding to Idaho artists, organizations and educators.
“ICA's work is crucial to encouraging artists and arts education in the state of Idaho,” she said. “At some point, many artistic ventures in Pocatello have benefited by ICA support. More importantly, the lives of our community members have been enriched by the arts.”
Friedley was appointed an ICA commissioner in 2015.
Friedley’s record of volunteerism in the arts, her educational excellence at Idaho State University and her performance career as a soprano and music educator contributed to her selection as vice chair, said ICA executive director Michael Faison.
“I find her to be an experienced and highly-professional peer in public institutional governance,” Faison said. “She thrives on diverse and creative teams, working collegially, building consensus around good policy and public service goals.”
