Opportunities for Faculty:
As part of the programming for our new Center for Learning and Instructional Excellence, we’re excited to launch several opportunities for faculty to share expertise in their field and/or teaching. We’re currently seeking faculty to participate in the following initiatives (links to submit proposals below):
Lunch and Learn Series
We are seeking faculty to host one-hour-long "bring your own lunch" series for faculty, students, and the ISU community in the following categories :
- Faculty Lecture Series – “One Thing Everyone Should Know About…”
What is the one lecture that you love? What is one thing about your discipline or research that you would like to tell everyone about? Is there one book, one theory, etc. ?
The topic is entirely up to you! For hosting, we will provide you with a stipend of $200.
- Master Teacher Series
Share innovative or effective teaching strategies you have used in your classes. These sessions will spotlight practical ideas others can take and adapt in their own teaching.
For hosting, we will provide you with a stipend of $200.
Ongoing Discussions on Pedagogical Issues
Faculty Learning Communities (FLCs)
An FLC is a collaborative group of faculty who engage in active, semester-long dialogue and shared inquiry around a specific teaching and learning topic to enhance professional development and improve student outcomes. Examples include a pedagogical book club, strategies for student engagement, or tech tools for teaching. You’ll set the focus and help guide the conversation.
For leading an FLC, we will provide you with a stipend of $600.
All faculty are welcome to participate, and these programs are just the beginning. The Center will also host workshops on high-impact practices, practical approaches to assessment, and more.
