Series to Feature Dr. Neelam Sharma's Upcoming Book on Online Abuse Faced by Women Journalists in India

Dr. Neelam Sharma, Associate Professor in the Department of Communication, Media and Persuasion, has been awarded a Senior Research Fellowship (2023-2025) by the American Institute of Indian Studies (AIIS) to carry out research for her book titled, “Online hatred, abuse, and women journalists in the era of digitalization in India: Opportunities and Challenges.”

The book will include women journalists’ in-depth interviews, survey responses, and an analysis of their social media posts.

Sharma's forthcoming book is under contract with Peter Lang Publishers as a part of the prestigious and highly competitive AEJMC-Peter Lang Scholarsourcing series. This book proposal was one of the two proposals that was offered a book contract following peer feedback by the Association of Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) review committee in 2022.
